Michael Blackstock
Co-founder and ex-CTO, Colligo Networks, Inc.Michael Blackstock is a veteran technology strategist and leader specializing in enterprise middleware for wireless and pervasive computing. He was a co-founder and CTO of Colligo Networks, Inc., a leading provider of peer-to-peer wireless productivity software designed for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth (tm) enabled notebooks, Tablet PCs, and handhelds. Before founding Colligo Networks, Michael was the Vice President of Research and Development for Infowave Software, Inc., a global provider of software that connects enterprise applications to wireless devices. In 1994 he was hailed as one of the top '40 under 40' young entrepreneurs in British Columbia in 1994.
Michael holds a Bachelors of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of British Columbia, and a Masters Degree in Computer Science from Simon Fraser University. He is currently pursing a PhD in Computer Science at UBC leading pervasive computing research projects at the Media and Graphics Interdisciplinary Centre (MAGIC).
Matt Dion
CEO, Meridex Software CorporationMatt Dion is CEO of publicly traded Meridex Software Corporation. He was previously VP Marketing at Apparent Networks, responsible for all marketing and product management functions. Brought in by the CEO to help grow the company, he helped move the company into the lucrative VoIP market and grow revenues by more than 50% year over year.
Prior to joining Apparent Networks, Matt spent 10 years at Crystal Decisions helping grow the company from a 60-person startup selling developer tools, to the fastest growing enterprise software company in the world with more than 1,600 employees and USD$300 million in revenues. During his time at Crystal Decisions, Matt was intimately involved in the partnering strategy and wore several hats including: strategic alliances, business development, public relations, analyst relations, product marketing, product management, and Vice-President of Sales. The company was acquired by Business Objects for approximately USD $1.2 Billion.
Matt was also a member of the Board of Vancouver-based ActiveState when it was acquired by Sophos for $23M in 2003. Matt holds a university degree in Business Administration and Psychology, from Simon Fraser University, British Columbia and is a member of BC Technology Social Ventures Partners.
Mark Johnston
Vice President of Sales and Technical Marketing, Intrinsyc Software Inc.Mark Johnston was appointed Vice President of Sales and Technical Marketing at Intrinsyc Software Inc. (TSX: ICS) in January, 2007. Mark is expected to help expand Intrinsyc's existing engineering services business into global markets and establish the company as a major provider of cellular platform software products.
Prior to joining Intrinsyc, Mark spent 22 years focused on communications technologies and global markets at Intel Corporation, holding recent positions of General Manager Communications Sales and Marketing for Asia Pacific, Director Global Marketing for the Cellular and Handheld Group, and Director World Wide Technical Sales and Support. His efforts have helped make Intel a top player in both the communications infrastructure and cellular handset silicon markets worldwide.
Keith E. Spencer
Partner, Fasken MartineauKeith Spencer is a practicing partner with law firm Fasken Martineau and works in the Technology and Intellectual Property Law Practice Group. Keith’s clients range from start-up and emerging technology companies to large multi-national technology and telecom companies, and parties in outsourcing transactions. He is a member of various boards and advisory boards for a significant number of private early stage technology companies. Keith was in-house counsel to the Vancouver-based Wireless Data Group of Motorola, Inc. (formerly MDI Mobile Data International), where he had overall responsibility for its legal affairs.
Keith has lectured in the area of technology, outsourcing, e-commerce and intellectual property law at the University of British Columbia Law School and at various Continuing Legal Education and Information Technology industry conferences. He has also authored articles in the areas of computer and information technology, outsourcing, e-commerce and intellectual property law.
