What are phishing, smishing and vishing attacks?
Phishing, smishing and vishing are social engineering attacks designed to steal sensitive information and enable account takeover fraud via websites, messaging apps and social media. Phishing uses deceptive emails, smishing delivers similar lures via text messages and vishing relies on phone calls or voice messages from attackers posing as trusted sources. All three exploit human trust to steal credentials, install malware, click on malicious links and enable digital identity theft – often leading to payment fraud, unauthorized transactions and financial loss.
