INETCO Insight Deployment & Architecture

INETCO Insight is application agnostic and follows a network-based deployment model which makes it un-intrusive and easily adaptable within all transaction environments. No agents need to be installed and no code needs to change in your applications. There is no risk of service disruption and no extra traffic load added to the payment switch.

The diagram below provides a simplified overview of INETCO Insight within your network environment. INETCO Insight does not need to be directly in-line with the transaction flow; instead the customer’s managed Ethernet switch (or router SPAN port) would send a copy of the data-flow to the INETCO Insight components. 

There are four major components to INETCO Insight's highly scalable architecture:

• INETCO Insight Web Interface - A real-time dashboard view of transaction activity, grouped by network, third party service providers, customers, terminal groupings and card types (provides information on network, application and transaction performance)

• INETCO Insight Event Processor – Decodes and analyzes transactions, providing statistical processing, alert notification, queries, correlation and analysis

• INETCO Insight Event Collectors – Un-intrusive collectors that forward transaction information to the event processor from the client side and back-end side

• INETCO Insight Reporting Database –Handles database output for designing custom reports or running the INETCO Insight standard set of reports

Capturing and correlating transaction intelligence in real-time

The INETCO Insight Event Collectors support capture of TCP data via the mirrored port (i.e. SPAN port) of a managed Ethernet switch. The collectors are responsible for collecting the raw network data packets and sending them on to the INETCO Insight Event Processor over an encrypted data link for correlation.

The INETCO Insight Event Collector component may be deployed in a separate server or it may run in the same server as the event processor software (as seen in the deployment diagram above). Communication between the INETCO Insight Event Collectors and the INETCO Insight Event Processor is via SSL.

Decoding transaction messages and displaying transaction performance metrics

The INETCO Insight Event Processor decodes the data packets received from the INETCO Insight Event Collectors.  The processor formats them into transactions, does any required statistical analysis and message parsing, presents the results to operations personnel via the INETCO Insight Web Interface dashboard view, and writes the results to the INETCO Insight Reporting Database.
