How BECU Uses ATM Data and Customer Analytics

2015 bai global banking innovation awards finalistLast month it was announced that INETCO customer BECU had been named a finalist in the Innovation in Internal Process Improvement category at the 2015 BAI-Infosys Finacle Global Banking Innovation Awards. The award recognizes those who have made a significant investment in internal process improvement to benefit the organization and ultimately, the customer. For BECU, this improvement was turning their transaction data into a goldmine.

BECU has always stood on the leading edge of innovation.  Their ability to identify, adopt and roll out new technologies has become an important part of BECU’s competitive advantage. The fourth largest community credit union in North America, they focus on operating full-service ATMs which average 7500+ transactions monthly.  With only two branches containing actual tellers, BECU’s self-service ATMs represent the main touch points with their 900,000+ member base. For BECU this means visibility into consumer transaction data is the key to ensuring their members are able to effectively complete their transactions at the ATM. Traditionally, it could take weeks to assemble member transaction data into a report which could be acted upon. Implementing the INETCO Insight real-time transaction monitoring software and the INETCO Analytics for ATM customer analytics application provided BECU with the game-changing knowledge of where, when and how members interact with their ATM channel.
